The wife...

Lamb to the Slaughter:

Roald Dahl was a great writer, he did a lot of amazing books but there is a particular book that he did that caught my attention and I think that to many others too. The book is called "Lamb to the Slaughter". The book is about Patrick Maloney who is a detective and her one of a kind wife Mary Maloney. The book is basically about Mr. Maloney getting to his house and telling some bad news to his wife and apparently this news are so bad enough to make Mary Maloney so crazy to the point of killing her husband. After that she putted the murder weapon which was a lamb leg to cook in the oven, then she went to buy some vegetables. Not long after she returned home and acted like if she just got home finding his husband dead in the living room floor. Then she called the police and they came and she faked like if she didn't knew what happened and after hours of cops being at her house she remembered of the leg of lamb in the oven so she didn't hesitated on offering it to the police mans so as simple as that they ate the murder weapon which killed their friend...

While reading the story I find a particular quote that clearly represents the use of imaginary in the story which lets the readers like me visualize what's happening in the story easier.

"She carried the meat into the kitchen, placed it in a pan, turned the oven on high, and shoved t inside. Then she washed her hands and ran upstairs to the bedroom. She sat down before the mirror, tidied her hair, touched up her lops and face. She tried a smile. It came out rather peculiar."

In this quote we can clearly see the use of imaginary when the author included words like "kitchen" or "high" or "tided". All this words help us imagine what would the setting would be like.

While reading the story I also found that there's also another quote which we can see that's not imaginary but characterization included.

"She began thinking very fast, as the wife of a detective, she knew quite well what the penalty would be."

Here we can see perfectly the use of characterization because we can easily comprehend the personality of Mary Maloney because even do she knows what the consequences of killing a detective she didn't seemed to care much, as if she doesn't take things for granted and we can also se she's crazy.

Here is the link to a little clip that I made with my brother of Lamb to the Slaughter:
